Other places I visited on my trip to India

Places I visited in India during this visit

My Flight was from Birmingham, with one stop at Dubai, as a connect flight to Delhi. During my stop I managed to look around the shops at the airport and bought a couple of items.
Visited GUJRAT –Baroda. Found it a very pleasant place and found it quite different in comparison to previous visits in Punjab.

I went to visit my brother who lives in Halol. I had a fantastic time in his farm house. I managed to relax for a couple of days and went shopping in Baroda, visited the local sites, temple, etc

Other sites visited while in PUNJAB:

Golden Temple – as always beautiful and a great place to visit

Hermitage rehabilitation Centre in Amritsar is - a private institute where excellent work takes place to help patients.

Khalsa College in Amritsar – very impressive college not just the building but also the studies too!

WEDDINGS FOR 8 GIRLS IN GHOLIA - MOGA - PUNJAB

WEDDINGS FOR 8 GIRLS IN GHOLIA – MOGA- PUNJAB
ON 7TH MARCH 2012 In Conjunction with Celebrating Women’s International Week

All under privileged girls were supported from Punjab by bringing them together at a mutual site, with the full provisions of covering all the costs arranged by raised funds.
The funds covered all the necessary requirements’ for brides to start their marital life.

They found their own potential grooms known to them through their friends and families. Parents were unable to provide for their daughter’s wedding due to either suffering with long term ill health or non existent.
We provided the following items:
Double Bed, mattress, including pillows, blankets, 53 pieces utensils for the Kitchen, 4 chairs &  table, electric fan, 5 sets of clothes  for the bride and also for the groom including a watch, and a large storage trunk.  This also Covered all food & refreshments made on the site for each couple bringing around 30-40 guests from both sides.

All went well.

Eye Camp in Quadian Gurdaspur 24th-27th February 2012

A Successful EYE CAMP IN QUADIAN GURDASPUR - 24th -27th February 2012
The eye camp had 800 people turned up at the hospital; each one was checked and received medical attention. Each patient received free medication advice and eye drops by the hospital staff.
I was over whelmed to see the number of people who turned up for support.  Around 80 required operations of cataract but 30 required further treatments due to unstable diabetes and high blood pressure to avoid complications during operation.
The medical team was very experienced, running such eye camps for over 18 years for Dr B S Bhatia. The team continued to work very hard for 3 days and performed 50 successful operations and 30 pending at a later stage.
This was a free Eye camp supported by Coventry Godiva Lions Club; it was also attended by the Lord Mayor of Coventry Cllr Kieran Mullhall and his daughter Lady Mayoress and his secretary, and Cllr H S Sembi.

Getting ready to leave for the airport now. Luggage is over the weight because internal flights only let me have 20kg and international flights let me have 35kg - stressed out! Will be landing Dehli, visiting Baroda to see my brother's place for the first time in India. Temperature will be about 32 Degrees Celsius - leaving this cold weather behind. Going to miss my children when I leave for this long trip!

Preparation

Only 2 days before I go! So excited to be a part of changing people's lives for the better. Packed most my suitcase already, finding it hard to pack 4 weeks of stuff in one bag! I feel that I am doing something that will benefit people on both parts. I have always the kind of person to go out of my way and help others.
I will be carrying out an eye camp in Punjab, India. This is through Coventry Godiva Lion's Club, which I am very proud to be part of.
Secondly, I have raised money to carry out simple weddings for girls who are living in poverty, in India.
Last but not least, I raised funds last year for a Global Charity called 'Roko Cancer' and will be visiting their camps to see how the money has been used.
Keep up to date with pictures and messages from me on my blog and feel free to ask me anything!
PS i'm not very up to date with my technology so bare with me if I don't get back to you all every day.
